Warrant issued for plaintiff in Saratoga BLM co-founder case | News

SCHENECTADY — An arrest warrant has been issued for the man who filed a criminal complaint against Saratoga Black Lives Matter co-founder Lexis Figuereo, according to the judge in Figuereo’s case.

Figuereo, who was charged with misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, appeared Friday afternoon in Schenectady Municipal Court before Judge Kate McGuirl. Figuereo is accused of pointing an AR-15-style weapon at Waldo Evora on Oct. 24 outside a Schenectady home.

During the conference, McGuirl acknowledged that Evora now had a warrant out for his arrest for criminal obstruction of breathing and second-degree harassment.

On Nov. 1, Figuereo’s partner, Gabrielle Elliott, said Evora, who is her landlord, got into an altercation with Figuereo and her on Oct. 24 after she claimed he tried to evict illegally. During that altercation, she said, Evora broke his hand and strangled Figuereo.

“At this point, we await the remainder of the district attorney’s discovery,” said Ave Agree, Figuereo’s attorney. “We have had preliminary negotiations … on how to resolve this issue, particularly in light of the accusations against Mr. Evora. So we hope that this will result in a quick and fair resolution and that we can get this case dismissed.

Figuereo, who declined to comment outside of court, is expected to reappear in court in December.
