GILLIAM, La. — The search for a missing skydiver Saturday afternoon ended tragically after his body was found miles from the intended landing site, according to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Search teams had been searching for the skydiver for several hours after he went missing in the Gilliam area. Deputies learned the skydiver’s parachute had not deployed.

The parachutist, who was wearing an orange jumpsuit, was located around 3:20 p.m.

Life Air Rescue, North Caddo Medical Center, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and a Caddo Fire District assisted PCSO in the search.

An investigation is underway to determine what happened.
