Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers are struggling to play in the SEC.

The team’s losing streak increased to three in Week 12 when LSU fell to Florida 27-16.

The teams went into halftime tied at 10, but LSU only managed to make two field goals in the second half. Florida, meanwhile, produced two touchdowns and a field goal to secure the eventual victory.

Gators quarterback DJ Lagway was 13 of 26 for 226 yards and a touchdown while Jadan Bagh paced the rushing attack with six carries for 65 yards and a touchdown. Florida’s offense totaled 340 yards and had no turnovers.

Statistically, the Tigers should not have lost this game. The offense produced 370 yards and possessed the ball for an astronomical 40:44. However, the inability to capitalize in the red zone and numerous lost fumbles dashed the team’s chances of securing the victory.

Garrett Nussmeier went 25 of 43 for 243 yards and a touchdown, but failed to lead the team to a key victory.

Fans took to social media to criticize Kelly and debate whether to fire him as the team’s head coach.

This is by far the most inexcusable loss of the Brian Kelly era.

The loss ended a seven-year streak of 10 or more winning seasons for Kelly as the team improves to 6-4 on the season. It also dashes any potential playoff hopes, even if those were already slim before Saturday.

The Tigers will now focus on securing the best possible Bowl bid and look to finish the season with wins over Vanderbilt and Oklahoma.
