Traffic will be affected in central Delhi on Tuesday as a marathon will be launched as part of the celebration of ‘Rashtriya Ekta Divas’, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, from the morning hours.

According to a traffic advisory issued by the Delhi Police on Sunday, the general public and motorists are informed that as part of the celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Divas, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a ‘race for unity” will be launched from Gate No. 1 of the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium on October 29 at 7:41 am.

The notice further states that around 7,700 participants will take part in the event and will reach the stadium in different vehicles. “Approximately 7,700 participants will take part in the event. They will arrive at the site by bus as well as by car. Therefore, traffic movement will be restricted towards India Gate, C-Hexagon from 06:45 am till the end of the function,” it read.

He added that the race route will start from Gate Number 1, Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, C-Hexagon, opposite Shahjahan Road and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue.

Traffic will be diverted from Tilak Marg-Bhagwan Dass Road crossing, Purana Quila Road-Mathura Road crossing, Shershah Road-Mathura Road crossing, Dr Zakir Hussain Marg-Subramanian Bharti Marg crossing, Q-Point, Mansingh Road roundabout, from Jaswant Singh Road roundabout. , KG Marg-Firozshah road crossing and around Mandi House.

Suggested routes available for general traffic from South Delhi to North Delhi and vice versa are Ring Road – Sarai Kale Khan – IP Flyover – Rajghat, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg – Mathura Road – W-Point-A-Point, Aurobindo Marg -Kamal Ataturk Marg-Kautilya Marg-Sardar Patel Marg-Mother Teresa Crescent – RML roundabout and continue, and Aurobindo Marg Aurobindo Chowk – Prithiviraj Chowk – MLNP roundabout Janpath or Rafi Marg Connaught Place New Delhi Railway Station (Chelmsford Road – Minto Road).
