Your iPhone just got smarter with this free update from Google

It’s not for nothing that they are called smartphones. The main gadget in our lives is already very smart, bringing a powerful computer to our pockets, but if you use an iPhone, there’s now a new way to get your hands on some smart AI features that were previously easier to find for Android fans.

Google has released its Gemini app for iPhone which brings Google’s artificial intelligence to Apple phones. Google once relied on the Google Assistant brand, but recently changed to calling many of its AI tools Gemini.

This new assistant aims to give you “easy access to features that help improve learning, creativity, and productivity,” according to Google.

“iPhone users can now talk to Gemini conversationally, including interrupting to ask questions or change the subject,” the company said. “It’s ideal when you want to practice for an upcoming interview, ask for advice on things to do in a new city, or brainstorm and develop creative ideas.”

You can think of Gemini as a way to speak or type into Google Search, where the information provided to you is much more conversational, allowing you to dig deeper into a query while the technology can remember the context of your searches previous ones. This aims to not only make searching easier, but also give you better results.

Signing in to your Google account when using the Gemini app opens access to your data from Gmail, Photos, Calendar, and other Google services. You can also search for personal information like events, flights, and other information that you won’t find in a traditional Google search.

“Gemini makes learning easy, allowing you to ask questions on any topic and get tailored study plans,” Google said. “Gemini can also provide personalized, step-by-step guidance that suits your learning style, and you can even test your knowledge with quizzes. For example, you can attach a complex diagram and ask Gemini to ask you about it.

As you can see, some of these new features are slightly experimental.

You can use Gemini to create unique images using simple prompts thanks to Google’s Imagen 3 image generation technology, while you can also rely on it to help you write texts and e-mails. emails by editing your drafts, changing the tone or adding new information.

These Gemini tools are built into new Android phones which necessarily run on Google’s Android software (although there is an app as well). By offering a standalone app for iOS, Google is making sure iPhone users don’t miss out on anything. The app is free to use, but to get the most out of Gemini, a monthly subscription fee is optional.
