Manchester United have reportedly stopped Aston Villa from signing left-back Harry Amass in January as they do not want to see a brilliant academy player leave for the Premier League.

Amass is yet to play for United’s senior team, but the 17-year-old has been tipped for a senior role under Ruben Amorim. At the end of Erik ten Hag’s tenure, it was suggested that with the absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, Amass might have a chance.

And even if he wasn’t on Amorim’s side in favor of a system involving fullbacks, it seems like Amass could be a vital asset.

But that won’t be the case if Aston Villa sign him, after TEAMtalk sources said that The bad guys are watching him before a potential move.

The move is not one that United has any interest in allowing, however, according to Football Insider.

The report states that they are expected to prevent Amass from leaving the club amid interest from Villa, with the Red Devils not keen to see one of their brightest academy products join another Premier League club.

United are believed to view Amass as a player with huge potential and would therefore have to be offered a huge fee to consider letting him leave.

United want world-class left-back

United’s desire not to see Amass leave is part of their desire to sign a world-class left-back.

They have been closely linked with Alphonso Davies in recent times, with one report suggesting he could being offered a signing fee of £10 million and a salary of £240,000 per weekin accordance with his request.

He was also recently Davies’ agent denied reaching deal with Real Madriddespite reports that they expect him to be their player next season.

As such, it appears United are likely to continue their efforts, and that could well keep Amass on the sidelines if the star left-back is signed.

Man Utd review: striker comes into view

Up front, United have been linked with a number of strikers, including Viktor Gyokeres. The Sporting CP striker revealed he was not thinking about the possibility of reconnecting with your old boss Amorim at Old Trafford.

United’s attention is believed to be turning to Victor Osimhen, with Joshua Zirkzee potentially being floated as a replacement.

In the meantime, Cristiano Ronaldo offered Amorim good luck at Unitedsuggesting he is the coach the club “needs” after criticizing former boss Ten Hag, who the striker fell out with, resulting in his departure from the club.

And the new manager has confirmed his coaching staff at Old Trafford, with Carlos Fernandes, Emanuel Ferro, Adelio Candido, Jorge Vital and former Liverpool and Arsenal player Paulo Barreira all joining from Sporting.

Amass a rising star

Amass has progressed beyond his years at Man Utd since joining their youth academy.

He initially played for the U18s last season, starting at 16, and this season he moved up to the U21 level while still only 17 years old.

The fact that he is mixing it with players up to four years his senior is promising in terms of symbolizing the speed of his development, while he has also played against senior teams such as Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers and Huddersfield Town in the EFL Men’s Trophy. U21 U21.

It may not be long before he warrants a first-team call-up, especially given Man Utd’s injury problems at his position.
