Republican senator Markwayne Mullin urged the U.S. House of Representatives to release a first-of-its-kind ethics report into allegations of sexual misconduct involving a 17-year-old girl by Matt Gaetz, Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general.

Speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday, Mullin said it was “absolutely” necessary for him and his fellow senators to view the report as they consider Gaetz’s nomination, echoing a number growing number of Republican senators.

“That should definitely be part of our decision-making,” Mullin said. However, the Oklahoma senator was hesitant about whether the report should be made public.

Trump’s nomination of Gaetz caused a sensation in Washington.

Gaetz was under a ethics investigation in progress in the House of Representatives for allegations of sexual misconduct, illegal drug use and misappropriation of campaign funds.

He abruptly resigned last week, effectively ending the investigation.

Gaetz has denied any wrongdoing.
