LIMA — Leaders of APEC economies said Saturday they will accelerate discussions with other members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to have a fully functional and accessible dispute settlement system to all members by 2024.

They made the remarks in the 2024 APEC Leaders’ Declaration on Machu Picchu, released here following the 31st APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

According to the statement, they also reaffirmed their support for the rules-based multilateral trading system centered on the WTO, and will remain committed to working towards the necessary reform of the WTO, to improve all its functions.

“We will continue to work constructively towards the full implementation of the outcomes of the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference (MC13),” the statement added.
