Four of Hong Kong’s public universities have been ranked among the world’s 133 best-performing universities in terms of the employability of their graduates, according to a global ranking, with the best performing ranked 24th.

The consultancy behind the survey said Hong Kong was regaining its pre-Covid momentum with two universities rising in the rankings, while a human resources expert said the high flexibility, adaptability and the Western exposure of local graduates allowed them to stand out in the job market.

The annual Global Employability Rankings, designed by human resources consultancy Emerging and published by Times Higher Education (THE), provide an overview of which universities major corporate recruiters believe are best at preparing graduates in the world of work.

The ranking is based on an online survey of international employers conducted from June to September this year. It collected responses from more than 13,000 operational managers and professionals involved in recruiting and supporting graduates.

Employers rate the employability performance of graduates from over 1,000 universities worldwide, with each respondent having up to 10 votes. The top 250 universities with the highest number of votes will be listed in the rankings.

Four of the city’s public universities rank among the top 250. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) moved up five places to 24th, while the city’s oldest institution, the University of Hong Kong (HKU), retained its 43rd place.
