Update: Weather Warning for High Fire Danger in 5 New Jersey Counties Through Sunday Evening

An updated weather alert was issued at 3:01 a.m. Sunday by the National Weather Service for high fire danger until 7 p.m. for Passaic, Hudson, Bergen, Essex and Union counties.

“An increased risk of fire spread will persist today. Low relative humidity between 25 and 30 percent and dry fuels will favor the spread of any fire that ignites. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Ensure you to properly extinguish or dispose of any potential ignition sources, including smoking materials such as cigarette butts. Refer to the New Jersey Forest Fire Department website for information. on burning restrictions,” the weather service says.
