Diljit Dosanjh has once again hit back at the Telangana government for sending him a notice asking him not to sing songs on alcohol and drugs. The singer recently performed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat as part of his Dil-Luminati tour. He said he had “good news” for his fans. Diljit said the first news was that he had not received any notification from the Gujarat government. Secondly, he said that he would not sing songs about alcohol during his show as Gujarat is a dry state.

Diljit said, “Today too, I will not sing such songs. It’s very easy for me to refine the songs. Main khud sharab nahi peeta. It’s very easy for me. Lekin Bollywood ke jo kalakaar hai woh sharab ki advertisement karte hai, Diljit Dosanjh advertisement nahi karta. Aap mujhe chedo carpet. Main program jahan jata hoon chup karke apna karta hoon, chala jata hoon. Aap kyu chedh rahe ho mujhe?”

Diljit said he would stop singing songs about alcohol once the government banned it nationwide. “Jitni bhi declares hai humare yaha, agar woh saari apne aap ko dry state ghoshith kardeti hai, agle hi din Diljit Dosanjh apni life mein kabhi sharab pe gaana nahi gayega. Pran karta main hoon. Hosakta yeah? Bohut bada income hai yeah. Corona mein sab bandh hogaya tha, theke bandh nahi hue the. Kya baatein kar rahe ho aap? Aap youth ko fuddu nahi bana sakte,” he said.

Diljit mentioned that he also sings many devotional songs but no one talks about them. The singer then made a special ‘offer’ and said, “Jahan jahan mere show hai wahan wahan aap ek din ke liye dry day ghoshith kardo, main sharaab ka gaana nahi gaunga.” It’s very easy for me. Once again, I tell you: it’s easy for me to refine the songs. Main koi naya kalakaar thodei hoon ki aap usko yeh bologe ki ‘Yeah yeah yeah gaana nahi gasakta’ aur main bolunga, ‘Arre main kya karunga’? hi maza ayega.”

For the uninitiated, a notice was issued to the Punjabi singer-actor, asking him not to sing songs promoting alcohol, drugs or violence at the event. The notice also warns Dosanjh not to “use children” during his performance. It further states that loud sounds and flashing lights during the concert are harmful to children. Based on a representation from a resident of Chandigarh, the notice was issued by the District Welfare Officer of the Department of Welfare of Women and Children, Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens, Rangareddy.
