A 17-year-old breaks his brother’s record to become the youngest person to pass the state bar exam.

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (CNN) – A teenage California lawyer put her name in the record books by becoming the youngest person to pass the state bar exam.

Sophia Park is the youngest person to pass the California bar exam at 17 years and 8 months. She began studying law when she was just 13, while simultaneously attending high school. She graduated from high school two years ago and from law school this year.

The record Sophia Park broke was held by none other than her brother, Peter Park, who passed the bar exam last year at the age of 17 years and 11 months.

Sophia Park works for the Tulare County Prosecutor’s Office as a paralegal. She is set to be sworn in as a licensed attorney in March 2025, when she turns 18. according to a press release.

“Sophia’s incredible accomplishments speak for themselves, and we couldn’t be prouder as an office family,” Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward said in the release.

Once cleared, Sophia Park plans to follow in her brother’s footsteps by joining the DA’s office as a prosecutor.

“As prosecutor, I will ensure that justice is done and that the victims’ voices are heard,” she said.
