Spare me the article published recently in this newspaper by Trump apologists who insisted that Trump was not a danger to America (“The president is not an all-powerful supervillain», November 13).

The authors ignore the reality that Trump is a liar of untold proportions, incapable of telling the truth on any subject. His lies are monumental and ongoing. His personal morality is non-existent. He completely surrounds himself with toads and those who enjoy resorting to cruelty.

Truth and laws will not save America if all branches of government are willing to accept its lies, as they are now.

There will come a time when Trump declares that an extreme emergency will require him to circumvent laws and suspend civil liberties to address the emergency. The Trumpites will believe it. Those of us who voted against him won’t believe him because he’s a liar. If Trump says it’s a sunny day during a thunderstorm, Trumpites will believe him. The rest of us won’t.

We can clearly see the dark clouds rising from the horizon.
