Franco Colapinto’s manager tells F1 fans to ‘shut up’ in angry social media statement | F1 | Sport

Franco Colapinto’s manager Jamie Campbell-Walter applauded fans on social media following the 21-year-old’s dismal weekend at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Colapinto made an impressive start to his F1 career after being brought in to replace Logan Sargeant at Williams until the end of the season. Until he had a weekend to forget at Interlagos, where he struggled to keep his car on track in heavy rain.

The young Argentinian started from 16th place on the grid after a crash in qualifying, before hitting the wall under the safety car during the race.

In recent days, the Colapinto management team has been criticized on social media for its handling of the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend. In response, Campbell-Walter took to social media to issue a furious rebuttal.

He wrote about X (formerly Twitter): “Listen carefully because I’ll only say it once. Stop with your opinions, stop with your insults and stop telling us how we should do our jobs. I’ll take care of it and I don’t need any more comments.

“I was here long before you supported Franco and I will be here long after. Everyone makes mistakes and they will learn from them. Let’s focus on Vegas and the races, but to do that I need you you were all silent.”

Colapinto’s future beyond the end of the current season remains uncertain. He will not drive for Williams next year, with Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz already signed up to lead the Grove team until 2025 and beyond.

He has been linked with a potential move elsewhere, including to Red Bull, with Ralf Schumacher suggesting he is destined to replace Sergio Perez as Max Verstappen’s teammate.

“There was a lot of interest in him, and not just from Helmut Marko,” Schumacher said. formal1.de. “I think Colapinto is a certainty at Red Bull. He can bring in a whole bunch of sponsors, he will have concluded big contracts.

“Internally, the situation between Christian Horner and Helmut Marko is still not optimal. Then there is Max’s father, who is really not happy with the whole situation.

“It’s exciting to see how this is all resolved, but I’m pretty sure Colapinto will end up in one of these cars.”
