A Serangoon resident is considering finding a new home because she can’t stand the smell of her neighbor’s dog.

The 67-year-old woman, surnamed Wang, lives in an apartment located at Block 124, Serangoon North Avenue 1.

In an interview with Shin Min Daily News, Wang complained about the smell emanating from her neighbor’s apartment after they brought an elderly dog ​​home last January.

The smell wafted from his neighbors’ house every time they opened their windows, preventing Wang from opening his own door for fear of the foul odor.

“My daughter and I live in a corner unit that needs ventilation, but as soon as you open the door you smell the dog. smell.”

Having undergone heart surgery twice this year, Wang told Shin Min of her anxiety as she cannot open her door due to the situation.

A neighbor living downstairs also noticed the stench, complaining that it came up to her house every time it was windy.

Speaking to Shin Min, the 60-year-old resident living on the third floor also noted that there is always a smell when the dog the things were left to dry.

To alleviate the odor, Wang resorted to aromatherapy, which reportedly cost him $1,000.

In addition to spraying lemongrass water into the air, she also burns spices and washes the floor outside her apartment with fabric softener to mask the water. dog smell.

Authorities find no problem with the dog

Wang said she tried to discuss the problem with his neighbors, but to no avail.

She then alerted the relevant authorities.

The dog’s owner, a retiree surnamed Chen, told Shin Min that authorities came to her house and told her there was no problem.

“If there were a lot of people complaining, I would believe it and try to remedy the situation.

“But so far only this neighbor has complained, and the authorities have said everything is fine.” she said.

A tenant in Chen’s unit also mentioned that the dog was not home most of the time because he would be kept elsewhere during the day.
