Fox News host gives colleagues pointed reminder during segment on trending ‘Trump Dance’

Fox News Host Jessica Tarlov highlighted a touch of hypocrisy within the conservative network on Monday after her colleagues spoke positively about athletes who paid tribute to Donald Trump.

“The Five” segment focused on the growing number of sports figures who imitated the Republican’s dance steps since he won the presidential election. Co-host Dana Perino suggested it was emblematic of the feeling that people were “not crazy for feeling that way” about Trump. Greg Gutfeld called the celebrations “joyful, free and happy.”

But Tarlov flashed back to 2018, when another Fox News host, Laura Ingraham, told NBA legend LeBron James that he should “shut up and dribble” and “keep the political commentary to yourself” after criticizing Trump.

“It’s still not wise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball,” Ingraham said at the time.

“So I guess we’ve come to a time in the Trump era where we’ve moved past ‘shut up and dribble,’ and now it’s fantastic for athletes to talk about their politics or express their politics,” Tarlov said. “Because that was one of the critical points when Colin Kaepernick was kneeling, when LeBron James was speaking.”

After Kaepernick, a former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, began kneeling during the national anthem at the start of games in 2016 to protest racial injustice, many people at Fox News were very critical of his activism.

Fox News personalities have also often taken issue with liberal athletes, like the football star. Megan Rapinoespeaking openly about their political views.

“Can’t we watch a sporting event without politics being thrown in your face? » Brian Kilmeade of Fox News complained in 2019 after Rapinoe said she wouldn’t go to the Trump White House.
