The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona refuse to back down in their quest for a promising midfield target.

It is according to Sports Worldciting Estadio Deportivo, which highlights Dário Essugo as the player in question.

Essugo, for his part, has been making waves in Spanish football during the opening months of the 2024/25 campaign.

After joining Las Palmas on loan from parent club Sporting CP, the versatile midfielder quickly established himself as an important figure in Diego Martínez’s side.

In total, to date, Essugo has racked up eight La Liga starts, impressing spectators along the way.

And, as mentioned above, one of those clubs whose attention has been piqued by the early season form displayed by the 19-year-old comes in the form of Barcelona.

According to MD, the Blaugrana tabled an offer for Essugo over the summer, which was rejected by their counterparts at Sporting.

Since then, only convinced of the Portuguese’s potential to become a star, Deco and co. continue to monitor Essugo, with a view to a long-term follow-up proposal.
