Half of Ukrainians want war to end quickly through negotiations, Gallup poll finds

Details: The institute noted that the current situation is fundamentally different from that of 2022, when a poll taken a few months after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion showed that Ukrainians were quite determined: 73% were in favor to a fight to the end.

A significant proportion of those who favor a quick end to the war believe that Ukraine should be prepared to cede some of its territory in exchange for peace.

“More than half of this group (52%) agree that Ukraine should be open to making territorial concessions as part of a peace deal to end the war, while 38 “% disagree and 10% don’t know. Gallup did not ask for more details on the level of territorial concessions people would be open to,” the report said.

The results are based on the latest Gallup polls in Ukraine. In 2023 and 2024, some occupied territories under Russian control were excluded from the survey due to lack of coverage by Ukrainian mobile operators. These territories represent approximately 10 to 12% of the population.
