Jeana Turner gets honest about her time America’s Next Top Model in an exclusive VICE clip Dark side of reality TV.

Turner was the runner-up in the final cycle of the popular reality TV show, bringing viewers to tears as she confessed to the audience that she had been diagnosed with alopecia at the age of 10. Before this confession on the show, she constantly wore wigs to cover her head, but in a touching moment, she threw away the wig and shaved her head.

“Taking the wig off is really liberating, it’s liberating,” Turner said on ANTM. “I feel like the whole world can see me now. I feel like I can see myself now.

But it seems the model feels about the situation a little differently now, considering her interview with the producers of Dark side of reality TV.

In a clip shared exclusively with PEOPLE, Turner tears up as she admits in the docuseries that she “wasn’t ready” to go bald.

“I wouldn’t even run down my driveway to the mailbox if I didn’t have my hair,” Turner tearfully admitted in the clip. “Like I really wasn’t ready for it to be shaved like that on TV.”

Since leaving the series, Turner has openly criticized the program as well as its longtime host and creator, Tyra Banks.

“And then we say to him: “Walk like that”. And you have to believe that it is beautiful. What if I didn’t? she continued. “I obviously didn’t think it was beautiful – I covered it with wigs.”

She’s one of several former contestants to come forward with allegations against the host and the show, and she delves into the aftermath during the America’s Next Top Model episode of Dark side of reality TV.

“We wanted to end the season in style and America’s Next Top Model delivered on that,” showrunner Meghan Payne told PEOPLE. “As someone who grew up watching ANTMI always looked forward to monitoring the discounts to see what new information was disclosed.

Payne noted how many of the show’s confessionals were used “out of context” — and Turner was particularly subject to this harsh editing tactic.

“Jeana Turner explained that they used one of her interviews about her suicidal and upset behavior, in response to the fact that she was sad about losing a challenge,” claims Payne, promising that Turner has more to share on his experience Dark side of reality TV.

Banks was contacted about the series, even though she does not appear in the episode centered on ANTM. PEOPLE has reached out to a representative of the banks for comment.

The show has covered other reality TV favorites, like Toddlers and Tiaras And Hell’s KitchenAnd America’s Next Top FashionI will close the first season of this documentary series. Although there is no confirmed second season yet, Payne says Netflix’s success love is blind is “top of everyone’s list” for future in-depth analysis.

The final of Dark side of reality TV premieres November 19 at 9 p.m. EST on Philo and Hulu + Live TV.
