To the College Football Playoff Selection Committee: It’s time to take a look at your ballot.

Since the first series of rankings were released two weeks ago, there was a lot of chaos in the sport that shook up the standings and altered the course of the 12-team playoffs. Although some teams have rightly progressed or declined depending on events, others were left in questionable locations. A team that clearly belongs on the field has an uncertain path, or another gets too much credit despite a lackluster resume.

There is a lot of debate over who is in the right place and who is either too high or too low, and the debates will continue to intensify with only a few weeks left until the official bracket is revealed . As we head into the home stretch of the regular season, here are the grades showing where each team is ranked in the latest college football playoff rankings:

Even with Wisconsin’s shaky performance, Oregon remains the best team in the country and is deservedly in first place.

The Buckeyes can get a major boost to their resume by beating Indiana this week, and should be behind a Ducks team they narrowly lost to.

The resume isn’t that strong for the Longhorns, but they still have a path to making the SEC Championship Game and getting the automatic bye.

The only loss is to Ohio State, but Penn State doesn’t have many opportunities to boast a good resume. Should Indiana also lose to Ohio State, what makes Penn State likely much higher than the Hoosiers?

The rankings don’t really matter at this point as Indiana faces its biggest game of the season at Ohio State, with a chance to climb high in the rankings. In addition to the outcome, how the Hoosiers play will be a major priority for the committee.

It must be nice that the loss to Northern Illinois wasn’t punished as much as it should be, but the Fight the Irish benefit from the teams that precede them when falling. But a victory against Army would be a big boost.

Alabama is enjoying cupcake week and the teams ahead of them are falling. Georgia’s win (a team they beat) is probably the reason Alabama skipped Miami, but the Crimson Tide shouldn’t be rewarded for beating Mercer by jumping over Miami.

The Hurricanes can move up a spot after having a bye week, but they must be upset that Alabama is overtaking them in the rankings.

Mississippi gets a resume booster with Georgia beating Tennessee and rightfully edges out a Bulldog team they beat.

Georgia enters the projected playoff field with a win over Tennessee and shouldn’t be close to getting past both teams to beat them in Alabama and Mississippi.

The Volunteers didn’t fall too far after the loss to Georgia, although perhaps they should have fallen a little further. The other loss this season came to a middling Arkansas team that doesn’t seem to be suffering as much as it should.

How about a first-round bye to Boise State? While this is expected, it doesn’t look like Boise State will be able to hold it. IT has no opportunity to advance as long as the SEC teams ahead of them win, and it appears the ACC and Big 12 champion will get a bigger boost in their rankings.

Still outside the projected field, SMU is now largely dependent on winning the ACC title or a catastrophic fall by one of the SEC’s at-large teams to make the playoffs.

Sure, Kansas is booming, but this is still a team BYU should have beaten. However, that drop shouldn’t have put the Cougars behind an SMU team they beat. Right now, BYU wouldn’t get a first-round bye — losing to Boise State — even though it has better wins than the Broncos.

Seemingly stuck in purgatory with the best win against a low-ranked Missouri team, Texas A&M is unlikely to advance. He has a chance to win the SEC, but the season hinges on managing Auburn and defeating rival Texas.

Colorado is red hot, but moving up just one spot after dismantling Utah and being stuck behind so many SEC teams shows there’s not much of a chance for the Big 12 to get two teams into the playoffs .

Clemson should have lost to Pittsburgh but escaped with a win and moved up three spots. An ACC title is still within reach, but hopefully things change. Additionally, the Battle of Palmetto with South Carolina is in two weeks.

A wild win over Missouri vaults South Carolina up three spots in what has become an impressive season. However, South Carolina has no chance of making the playoffs unless absolute chaos breaks out.

After starting low, the Army made its biggest advance in this ranking so far. The resume hurts the undefeated Black Knights, but the season hinges on how Army performs against Notre Dame. After this Saturday, the Army’s ranking can truly be evaluated.

With a spot in the U.S. title game, Tulane will try to become the second Group of Five team to have an argument to qualify for the postseason. THE Green wave should be behind Army since they have two losses.

THE Sun Devils are finally ranked after an impressive win over Kansas State and a Big 12 title within reach. However, Arizona State has a strength record of 18th, which makes one wonder why they are still behind Tulane and possibly Army.

Iowa State is back on the winning side after losing two games in a row. The rankings are more a result of teams dropping out of the ballot altogether, even if there is an outside shot. Cyclones win the Big 12.

Lose and not move at all? Missouri not being punished for losing to South Carolina is questionable and gives the Alabama, Texas A&M and South Carolina teams the chance to say they have a ranked win while they shouldn’t.

UNLV has been good this season with an 8-2 record, but that ranking is questionable since the Rebels don’t control their destiny in the Mountain West and their best win is against Fresno State 5-5. This adds some intrigue to Boise State’s resume since they beat UNLV.

The Big Ten suddenly has another ranked team, which Oregon and Penn State have loved since they both beat Illinois. Watch how this team finishes the season and how far they can improve to boost the resumes of the Ducks and Nittany Lions.
