Wicked the star cast would have been much more different with Lady Gaga and Shawn Mendes.

Stephen Daldry, the director of The Crownsuggested Gaga to portray the character of Elphaba according to sources close to the project.

It is also speculated by Page six that he and Bad Romance The crooner had met several times to discuss the character.

“They had meetings, both of them, about the character and who she would be. (Gaga) basically got cast in her version and then she failed,” the source said.

Mendes was rumored to play Fiyero in the film, a role ultimately played by Jonathan Bailey.

Daldry, who was the original choice to direct the film in 2016, left the film in 2020 due to scheduling conflicts, according to Variety.

And Gaga decided to opt for misfortune Joker sequel which missed its place at the box office.

John M. Chu replaced Daldry as director and cast Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, along with Ariana Grande as Glenda the Good Witch and Travel companions star Bailey as Fiyero.

The musical adaptation also stars Michelle Yeoh, as well as Grande’s beau Ethan Slater and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz.

For now, WickedThe star cast is busy attending the first premieres of the film.
