Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk has named Victor Osimhen as the best striker in the world right now, even better than Manchester City’s. Erling Haaland.

The 25-year-old Nigerian striker, who was loaned to the Turkish side in September, instantly became a fan favorite following his superb performances for the Yellow-Reds.

Osimhen has scored eight goals and created four assists in just nine games played for Galatasaray in all competitions, propelling Buruk’s side to the top of the Super Lig, according to Transfer market.

Meanwhile, Haaland has also scored 15 goals in all competitions this season. Manchester Cityalthough his overall performance seems below average compared to previous seasons.

Why Buruk thinks Osimhen is better

While Buruk’s statement that Osimhen is better than Haaland proves controversial when comparing the two players’ stats, the Galatasaray coach explained the reason for his confession.

The Galatasaray coach says the Nigerian striker’s recent performances set him apart from the former Borussia Dortmund striker, Soccernet reports.

“There are not many elite strikers in Europe,” Buruk said. “Maybe Haaland comes to mind first, but with Manchester City losing in recent weeks, I’d say Osimhen is the best at the moment.”

Buruk is confident that Osimhen will lead Galatasaray’s attack superbly this season and hopefully lead the club to win multiple titles before his loan deal expires at the end of the season.
