Users will be able to select one of 51 spoken languages ​​and one of 31 translation languages ​​offered, with the meeting transcript capable of recording and providing the entire conversation, regardless of the language spoken.

The feature, which will arrive in 2025 for Microsoft Teams desktop, web and mobile apps, will also see live caption translations and live transcriptions supported.

Users will also receive an automatically generated meeting summary, provided in their preferred language, once the meeting is over, and can even change the translation language via the Summary tab.

Elsewhere, the company revealed that Teams users will also be able to have a Copilot-generated summary of a file shared with them in a chat without needing to switch between apps.

Often when a file is shared in a Teams chat, users are not able to quickly read and digest it, but the new feature, available in preview in early 2025, will be able to quickly summarize the content so so that the user can understand the content. the main points without opening the file.

Only users with access to the file will receive a summary, so there is no risk of a security leak, with summaries carrying the same sensitivity label as the original file for added security.

Finally, the company is looking to make Microsoft Teams a place for employees of all levels to communicate through an upgrade to its Storyline feature, which will now be integrated into the platform.

Storyline will give all employees the ability to follow updates and notifications from leaders, discover content, offer ideas and perspectives, and speak up to senior management, all from Microsoft Teams.
