COURSE

SOUTH ELBOW — Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana will offer the free “Therapeutic Fibs” class from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on November 25 at the Care Partner Academy. Patty Piechocki, Director of the Institute for Excellence in Memory Care, will lead this live/interactive web session. Participants can log in via their computer. NILES — The Niles District Library, 620 E. Main St. offers a beginner’s yoga class every other Monday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the community room. The course is aimed at adults aged 18 and over and all experience levels are welcome. Bring a mat and wear comfortable clothing that allows movement. No registration is required and entry is free. The instructor is Sam Major of Dancing Feet Yoga. The next class will take place on November 25.

MICHIGAN CITY — Franciscan Health Michigan City presents a suicide prevention course in December. The QPR Entry Question, Persuasion and Reference Course or Suicide Prevention Course is based on the curriculum developed by the QPR Institute. The course aims to save lives and reduce suicidal behavior by providing innovative, practical and proven suicide prevention training. People trained in QPR learn to recognize the warning signs of a suicidal crisis and how to question, persuade and direct someone to help. The course will be presented from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. CST on Dec. 12 at the Michigan City Police Department, 1201 E. Michigan Blvd., in the community room. The course is free, but registration is required by contacting Nila Williams, Health Improvement Coordinator, by email at [email protected] or call 219-283-9649.
