As you probably already know, The Donald has chosen the infamous Dr. Mehmet Oz to serve as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. What you may not remember is that he is an enthusiastic supporter of Medicare Advantage.

Let’s get down to business. According to Health reform activist Wendell Potter:

Get this: Dr. Oz wants to force Pennsylvania’s seniors into health insurance plans run by Wall Street, which many studies show costs taxpayers far more than original Medicare. And most of these private plans require doctors to ask permission before prescribing many medications and treatments to their patients.

If Dr. Oz gets his way, the majority of Pennsylvania’s (and America’s) seniors will lose their current coverage and be herded into private plans that have become insurers’ new cash cow.

If this happens, Dr. Oz will become a lot richer. This is because he would have until $550,000 worth of stock in UnitedHealth Groupthe largest owner and operator of so-called Medicare Advantage plans.
