COSTA MESA, Calif. (KABC) — All southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway were closed for several hours in the Costa Mesa area Wednesday morning following a fatal crash overnight.

The first incident, involving several cars, occurred around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday near Harbor Boulevard. At least one person was killed.

All lanes remained closed until late in the morning, making it difficult for drivers to travel. AIR7 was over the scene where several cars involved in the accident were still scattered on the roadway.

At least one lane was reopened around 7 a.m.
