OnePlus is set to enter the foldable case market as leaks suggest it is the company’s first flip phone, potentially named the OnePlus V Flip. According to the details, the smartphone will be launched next year between April and June (2025). Reports further suggest that the device could directly compete with flip devices already available in the market, like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip series, Motorola Razr, and Tecno flip phone, which offer premium features and competitive prices.

OnePlus V Flip: what to expect?

According to early speculation, it was suggested that the V Flip could be a rebranded Oppo Find N5 Flip. The updated leaks further indicate that Oppo has discontinued this model, to pave the way for a separate OnePlus design.

The smartphone is expected to stand out in the crowded foldable segment thanks to its innovative features and aggressive pricing strategy.

OnePlus Open 2: rumor for early 2025

OnePlus could also launch the OnePlus Open 2, a successor to its previous foldable. Reports hint at major upgrades including a 5,700mAh battery with wireless charging support, a slim design, and the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Its camera system, refined by Hasselblad, could include a 50 MP main sensor, an ultra-wide lens and a periscope telephoto lens with optical zoom.

The foldable challenge

As OnePlus enters the foldable device market, it is facing tough competition from already established players like Motorola, Samsung, Tecno and many others. The brand should focus on providing high quality specifications and competitive prices to carve a niche for itself.

With the launch dates arriving soon, more details will be revealed by the company regarding the OnePlus V Flip and Open 2 which are expected to surface in the coming months.
