Raptors share exciting update for several rotation players

The Toronto Raptors appear to be on the mend.

For the first time this season, Toronto had almost everyone available for practice Wednesday morning. Scottie Barnes, Bruce Brown and Ja’Kobe Walter have all participated in the team’s practice as the trio nears their return this year.

Barnes trained with glasses ahead of his return to the field following a fractured orbital bone he suffered when Nikola Jokic inadvertently hit him in the eye late last month . The injury forced Barnes to miss 11 games for Toronto. The plan is to see how Barnes reacts after practice before making a judgment on his availability in the future, Raptors coach Darko Rajaković said.

Brown participated in his first practice following offseason knee surgery. He has been doing conditioning work on the side for most of the last month and is now preparing for his return. It looks like it might take him a little longer to get back to full fitness, but he shouldn’t be out for too long.

Walter has completed a full workout and the team is just waiting to see how he reacts before deciding his next steps. He missed six games after aggravating an AC joint injury he suffered before training camp.

Kelly Olynyk is returning but has not yet been cleared for contact as he continues to deal with a back injury. He participated in the non-contact portion of practice Wednesday, but will be out at least a little longer.

Immanuel Quickley appears to be the furthest from returning as he continues to deal with a sprained UCL. Toronto is not considering surgery for Quickley, who will continue rehab before likely returning next month.
