Kat Dennings and Tim Allen Team Up for Shifting Gears: First Look (Exclusive)

Kat Dennings And Tim Allen move in together – sort of.

The new ABC sitcom Change gear stars Dennings and Allen as they play a widowed father, Matt, and his ex-daughter Riley, who find themselves living together and working to repair their relationship.

PEOPLE’s exclusive first look shows the dynamic between the two as they navigate life under one roof, while Riley and her children return home.

“Is this my GTO?” I built it 15 years ago and someone stole it,” the trailer begins, showing Matt, owner of an antique car repair shop, watching Riley enter.

“Hey dad,” she said before he exclaimed, “And there’s the thief!” »

Words then scroll across the screen: “Going home is a road strewn with pitfalls”.

“I’m going home because I’m broke,” says Riley. “I need a place to stay until I figure out what the rest of my life is like.”

“So a few days!” » Matt jokes, drawing laughter from the studio audience.

Viewers then get a glimpse of the father-daughter dynamic, with Matt recalling: “I asked if you locked that back door, you looked at me and you gave me a double bird.”

“I was 18, the double bird was the end of all our conversations,” Riley joked before the end of the preview.

Allen is no stranger to sitcoms. He is well known for his role in the hit 90s film Home Improvement and, more recently, Last man standing, which ended in 2021. He also starred in Santa Claus films, which were transformed into a Disney+ series Santa Clauses in 2022.

Dennings also made his mark in the world of sitcoms with CBS’ 2 broke girlsbroadcast from 2011 to 2017.
