Fashion expert reveals why Queen Camilla wears so much blue | Royal | News

A fashion expert has shared her thoughts on what King Charles and Queen Camilla’s outfits could mean.

During their recent royal tour, the couple looked like the picture of unity with their coordinated outfits featuring carefully chosen pieces.

Lynne Hugill, fashion expert and lecturer at BA Fashion at Teesside University, said: “On the recent tour, Queen Camilla wore a more subtle color palette than usual, but she opened the toured with a bright blue outfit which is one of the Commonwealth outfits. colors.

“The blue dress she wore at the start of the recent tour was significant. Blue is a very calming color anyway, but it simply symbolizes the unity between the Commonwealth, Australia and Great Britain.

“This was probably done on purpose, as she doesn’t normally wear a lot of bright colors like that.” Normally it’s a little more pastel, and I noticed that sometimes during the recent tour she and Charles would coordinate their outfits, which shows their unity, since I guess they’ve had a pretty bumpy ride over the years.

Ms Hugill said the King and Queen’s outfits had been carefully thought out. She added: “There were times when they were color coordinating on their tour – especially when they had garlands and they were wearing white, and it really showed their unity. They looked very happy and coordinated.

“Everything she wears is stylish, but she and Charles are really about sustainability, so I think they’re really highlighting the fact that they’re recycling their outfits, and it’s not just new outfits all together. time.

Ms Hugill continued: “Queen Camilla is an elegant woman – she opts for timeless pieces that have an elegant look, so I think she always looks very beautiful.

“She doesn’t like fashion as such, I would say, and these days she often wears shirt dresses. I thought some of the pieces she wore on tour, like the shirt tops and pants, were quite interesting, they’re a bit more modern.

Queen Camilla is known for championing British designers and, with the help of her stylist, Ms Hugill says the Queen has adapted her style to match royal messages.

“Her style is a way to help convey the important messages that the King and Queen want to get across in terms of sustainability and against disposable fashion.

Since becoming queen, Camilla’s style has changed, says Hugill: “She’s always had a very equestrian style, but now that she’s going to a lot of more formal dinners and occasions, she’s had to slightly change style.

“I also noticed that she used a historical piece of jewelry. She likes to tell a story with her outfits about their origin, and being British, her jewelry often has historical references.

Last month’s royal tour marked King Charles’ first visit to Australia since becoming monarch.
