UPDATE: 7:50 a.m.
We now have more information from Phoenix police.

Around 2 a.m. Friday, police were called to a shooting in Phoenix where two adults were found with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. The victims told police they were shot at a nearby address. The officers then went to investigate to check the well-being of the people living there.

During the investigation, Phoenix Police located a vehicle believed to be driven by the suspect. While watching the vehicle, the suspect fled and headed south on I-10. Phoenix officers disengaged and DPS attempted to stop and when the driver did not stop, a pursuit was declared.

DPS was able to stop the vehicle near Cortaro and the suspect barricaded himself in his car.

The suspect was taken into custody.

We will keep you updated as we learn more about lifting road closures.

We’re looking to learn more about a heavy police presence on I-10 that’s causing a traffic jam for commuters this morning.

At this time, we are aware that the Department of Public Safety is working with Phoenix Police on an investigation on eastbound I-10 near Cortaro.

DPS advises that all eastbound lanes and adjacent roads near the investigation are closed. Our traffic map also shows a significant decline for those heading west.

We do not know when the road will reopen.

Our own Blake Phillips is on site right now and working to figure out what’s going on. We also reached out to Phoenix police to learn more about what brought them to the Marana area.

Stay with KGUN 9 for updates throughout the morning.
