BAYSHORE implements a required parental supervision policy

BAYSHORE announced on Tuesday, October 29 that it will implement a Required Parental Monitoring (PGR) policy effective Friday, November 1, 2024.

The specifics of the BAYSHORE PGR policy are as follows:

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays after 3 p.m.

  1. Visitors aged 17 and under must be accompanied at all times by a parent or supervising adult aged 21 or older on Friday, Saturday and Sunday after 3 p.m. Parental supervision. Required hours are subject to change during the holiday season.
  2. Unsupervised youth present on property before 3 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday must leave the shopping center by 3 p.m. or be immediately joined by a parent or supervising adult aged 21 or older.
  3. Proof of age may be required for the youth and/or supervising parent/adult. Those who do not have proper identification will be asked to leave the property.
  4. Valid identification includes a driver’s license or state-issued ID card, military ID, school ID, or passport. Identification must be tamper-proof and include a photograph and date of birth.
  5. An adult aged 21 or over can accompany up to four young people. All accompanied young people must remain with the supervising adult at all times.
  6. Supervising adults aged 21 or over are responsible for the actions of the young people they support.

Customers who do not act responsibly or follow the Bayshore Code of Conduct will be asked to leave. If they do not leave or refuse to leave the property, they may be arrested and prosecuted for criminal trespass.

Why are you implementing a mandatory parental supervision policy?

BAYSHORE is committed to ensuring a welcoming and comfortable environment for all who visit. We are following the lead of other centers across the country who have successfully implemented mandatory parental supervision policies to continue to ensure an inviting and enjoyable experience for shoppers and diners.

Does BAYSHORE implement this policy in response to a specific incident?

We have proactively made the decision to implement this policy to ensure a pleasant experience for our visitors, and it is not a response to any specific incident.

What about people under the age of 17 who work at BAYSHORE?

Store employees aged 17 and under may continue to work in their store during Mandatory Parental Supervision Policy (MGP) hours of operation. Store employees aged 17 and under must follow the policy and leave the premises if their shift ends during the hours specified in the policy.

How will the policy be enforced?

We work with our security team to implement an enforcement plan and protocol. As an open-air shopping center with multiple entry points, we will place signage at all main entrances reminding visitors of the policy and opening hours. At the discretion of security personnel, guests may be asked to show identification as proof of age. Persons unable to present proper identification will be asked to leave the property.

The following are considered appropriate forms of identification: a driver’s license or state-issued identification card, military ID, school ID, or passport. Identification must be tamper-proof and include a photograph and date of birth.

Will this policy be permanent?

At this time, we have no plans to remove this policy. Parental supervision required Policy dates and times are subject to change by BAYSHORE management.

To which buildings, spaces and areas does this policy apply?

This policy will apply to all BAYSHORE property, including buildings, roads, common areas and parking areas.

How will this apply to ACX and movie times during rule operating hours?

The ACX Cinemas entertainment center welcomes guests ages 17 and under to enjoy a movie during regular business hours. Guests age 17 and under arriving on property to attend a movie must immediately enter the Rotunda and present their purchased movie ticket or intend to purchase a movie ticket at ACX. Guests will be immediately escorted directly to ACX for their cinematic experience.
