Strong winds are forecast for Monday in parts of Simcoe County.

Environment Canada has issued a weather alert for Barrie, Collingwood and surrounding areas, warning residents of strong winds expected to reach 80 kilometers per hour in the afternoon.

“Strong northwest winds gusting to 80 km/h are expected as a cold front blows through the region,” the national weather agency noted. “Gusts will be more frequent near the shores of Huron Bay and Georgian Bay. »

Winds could cause power outages, throw loose objects and break tree branches.

The weather alert is expected to end this evening.
