The early voting period in Tennessee has ended, but voters can still vote on Election Day, November 5. On Tuesday, voters will have to appear at their assigned polling location with their necessary identification.

Wondering how to find your polling location or what ID is needed? Here’s what you need to know in Davidson County.

What time do polling stations open on election day?

In Tennessee, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. If the polls close while you are in line, you can stay in line and still vote.

The Davidson County Election Commission advises voters to request a redo if an error appears on the printed ballot – do not scan the ballot.

Where is my voting location?

On election day, voters must vote in their assigned constituency.

Davidson County residents can use the Finding polling locations to identify their assigned voting location. Voters can also search for their polling location via the Tennessee Secretary of State website.

What should I bring to vote? What forms of identification are acceptable?

Voters must show identification with their name and photo to vote, such as a Tennessee driver’s license. The following credentials are also acceptable, even if they have expired:

  • An American passport
  • A photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Homeland Safety and Security
  • A photo ID issued by the federal or state government of Tennessee
  • A U.S. military photo ID
  • A Tennessee handgun permit with your photo

I forgot my ID card. Can I still vote?

Yes. In the event that a voter cannot provide acceptable identification, they will receive a provisional ballot.

The voter will then have two business days after Election Day to return to the Election Commission office and present a valid photo ID. According to the Tennessee Secretary of State, upon returning to the Election Commission office, the voter will sign an affidavit and a copy of their photo ID will be prepared for review by the recount commission.

Is it too late to register to vote in Tennessee?

Yes, Tennessee does not offer same-day voter registration. The last day to register to vote in Tennessee was October 7.
