Woman earning six-figure salary lives paycheck to paycheck

Based on 2024 datathe average median income in the United States is $59,384. Between a struggling job market, inflation, and the economy, a salary below $60,000 a year is certainly a struggle to live.

There are incomes that people only dream of earning. For many, anything over six figures would be a godsend, allowing them a modicum of freedom from the stress of daily expenses and perhaps even a tiny bit of savings.

However, one woman found herself in this normally fortunate situation, with a salary of $150,000, and she still barely had enough to make ends meet.

A woman who earns $150,000 each year said she lives paycheck to paycheck.

TikTok Content Creator @essentiallydeva shares snippets of his life on the app. Most focus on one’s financial situation and efforts to pay off debt.

As Deva shared in a video, she actually does what most people would consider enough to have a comfortable lifestyle.

“I make $150,000 a year as a single income person,” she said. “I live paycheck to paycheck. I have no pension, I have no savings and it sucks.

I am very in debt“, she explained. “And it’s not going to happen overnight. This took place over a period of 11 years.

The woman explained that her six-figure salary does not allow her to live a comfortable life because she struggles with her budget.

“That’s why budgeting is so important,” she said. “I was in an abusive relationship for many years and I was controlled. Budgeting feels very controlling to me.”

Deva has made several videos addressing different comments that TikTokers have left for her. One person asked if they could just live a less expensive life.

“Oh, the million dollar question,” Deva said. “I actually live very cheaply.”

She admitted that she understood why some people didn’t understand why she wasn’t able to live comfortably.

“I don’t know how you can’t live comfortably on what I make now. “I won’t earn as much when I get out because I don’t plan on doing grocery delivery 24/7 once I’m out of debt,” she admitted .

To top it all off, Deva is actually worried about making too much money. She said her take-home pay from her traditional job was around $100,500. Then, she earns between $25,000 and $30,000 from her side hustles, like delivering groceries.

“I’m a little worried that this year it’s going to be more than that, especially with the revenue from TikTok,” she said. “I haven’t looked at the tax brackets, but I hope I don’t find myself in a new tax bracket.”

In one of her most personal videos, the woman explained why she is in so much debt.

A curious TikTok user asked Deva how she got into so much debtand what exactly did she have to show for it. Deva said she kept 50% of the debt to herself, but she didn’t mind talking about the other half.

Deva explained that for years she was trapped in an abusive marriage. “About 13 years after we got married, I had had enough,” she said.

Deva said the only good thing to come out of her marriage was her daughter, whom she fell into debt while fighting for custody from her and that she provided them both with the advice they needed.

“So I literally started again,” she said. “I didn’t care what it cost me financially.”

The woman was the victim of financial abuse.

According to the National Network to End Domestic Violence“Research indicates that financial abuse occurs in 99% of domestic violence cases. »

This follows much of what Deva has said about him. my husband wants her to work so he can have money and demand money in their separation.

Like many others, in addition to psychological and physical violence, Deva was a victim of financial abuse. No one can blame him.

It can be easy to look at Deva’s situation and judge her. One might wonder how anyone could struggle with such a high salary. But she experienced things many can only imagine.

Deva is completely justified in her situation and hopefully one day she will free herself from the debt that is holding her back.
