Following widespread criticism, the Sindh government on Wednesday canceled the transfer order of bureaucrat Hazim Bangwar, who was removed last month allegedly for issuing eviction notices to former officers.

“This department’s notification of even number dated 28/10/24 regarding the transfer of Hazim Ali, a PMS officer (BS-17) from the Commissioner’s Office, Karachi and ordering to report to the Department of Services, of the “General Administration and Coordination, is cancelled/withdrawn,” read a notification issued by Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah.

Last month, the “cool” bureaucrat was removed from the post of deputy commissioner and made to report to the Sindh General Services and Administration Department.

Known for his distinctive style, Bangwar served as Deputy Commissioner General of Karachi in the Karachi Commissioner’s Office.

The official gained fame and popularity among the masses for his service and dedication, apart from his eclectic taste and choice of clothes, after his appointment as Deputy Commissioner of North Nazimabad in 2023.

He made headlines again after announcing his dismissal from his official post last month.

The reason for Bangwar’s “withdrawal” was not stated anywhere. However, internal sources revealed that he was transferred following a complaint for issuing notices to former civil servants overstaying at official residences.

The new beneficiaries, according to sources, had approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) for acquisition of the official residences.

To ensure implementation of the SHC order, Bangwar reportedly sent notices to former officials.

Bangwar, also a singer and songwriter, completed his first degree in fashion design and marketing from AIU London and then pursued an LLB at a university in London.

He has also worked with Jessie J, Future, Ciara, Juelz, T-Pain, Jason Derulo and Nicki Minaj.

In 2019, he released his debut single titled “Haram” which became a hit in South Korea, Hungary, Egypt and India, making Hazim the first Pakistani singer to reach international charts with a song in English.

However, music and fashion are not the young bureaucrat’s only passions. One of his passion projects also includes his foundation, HBF, which aims to provide funds for education, environmental and animal protection programs, as well as emergency response programs in Pakistan.

Bangwar has also worked with and supported many local and international non-profit organizations, such as WWF, SOS, Oceana, Amnesty International, Dar Ul Sakoon, Project Aware and PETA.
