Their preparations follow a 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce in the Europa League, leaving them just two days behind before Sunday afternoon’s kick-off against West Ham.

This match will be Ten Hag’s ninth league game of the season, with United having won three, suffered three defeats and drawn twice so far.

Last injury

United went to the Fenerbahce match with ten members of the first team absent. As the club announced this week, Leny Yoro and Tyrell Malacia are back in training on grass but still have a few weeks left before they return to action.

At the club’s training session on Wednesday afternoon, Luke Shaw was spotted training on grass for the first time in months, but he is not expected to return until early next month.

As for Harry Maguire, he admitted earlier this month that he would be out for “a few weeks” following an injury against Aston Villa, but it is unclear when he will return.

In midfield, Kobbie Mainoo is confirmed out until mid-November with a hamstring problem, while youngsters Toby Collyer and Dan Gore are both unavailable, but their return dates have not been confirmed. not yet confirmed.

Finally, Mason Mount noticed a delay in his return to physical fitness. He hasn’t played since late September, and although Ten Hag recently confirmed that the 25-year-old would be back “soon”, he also explained that there had been a bit of a delay in his recovery.

Up front, there is another injury to consider, as Brazilian winger Antony had to be subdued after just 10 minutes of appearance time following a knock to his leg. He was seen leaving the Istanbul stadium with a boot and crutches.

Positives of fitness

Good news: United have rested Rasmus Højlund, keeping him fresh for the upcoming trip against the Hammers. The Danish striker played 35 minutes against Porto as he continues to return to fitness following a two-month-old hamstring problem.

Jonny Evans was not spotted in training on Wednesday afternoon and missed the team that played in Istanbul, but Ten Hag explained that he hopes Evans will be part of the team that faces West Ham .

Bruno Fernandes will also return to the team after serving a one-match suspension in the Europa League due to a red card he received against FC Porto earlier this month.

“We spend the night (in Türkiye) then directly to London to train on Saturday,” Erik confirmed Thursday evening.

“We are of course waiting for Bruno to return and hopefully Jonny Evans.”
