Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal hires chief of staff, candidate has to pay Rs 2,00,000 to get hired, but there’s a catch

Candidates interested in this “accelerated learning program” should submit a 200-word cover letter to Goyal’s email address, [email protected].

Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal is on the lookout for a chief of staff and has introduced an unconventional approach to recruitment. In a post shared on his X account (formerly Twitter), Goyal explained: “I am looking for a chief of staff myself. Someone who is hungry, has a lot of common sense, empathy and little experience (and therefore no conditioning/baggage). Is down to earth and has no entitlement. Wants to do the right thing, even if it comes at the cost of displeasing others. Possesses A-level communication skills and, more importantly, has a learning mindset.

The role is focused on building the future of Zomato and its affiliated brands including Blinkit, District, Hyperpure and Feeding India. However, this comes with unique conditions: the selected candidate will not receive a salary in the first year and will have to contribute ₹20 lakh, which will be entirely donated to Feeding India, a non-profit organization. In return, Zomato will donate ₹50 lakh to a charity of the candidate’s choice.

Highlighting the learning potential of the role, Goyal described it as offering “10 times more learning than a two-year degree from a top management school”. He added: “We want people to apply for the opportunity it presents, not for a fancy job or social approval. » From the second year onwards, the company will pay a competitive salary of over ₹50 lakh.

Applicants interested in this “Accelerated Learning Program” should submit a 200-word cover letter to Goyal’s email address, [email protected].
