Child found wandering alone looking for parents in northeast Colorado Springs, police say | News

Authorities arrested a small child Sunday morning after finding him alone, poorly dressed and looking for his parents, according to Colorado Springs police.

Officers were dispatched to a convenience store in the 6400 block of Issaquah Drive, near Dublin Boulevard and Marksheffel Road, after a boy, approximately 3 years old, entered the store just before 2 a.m. Sunday, officials said.

The boy, who was not wearing shoes and was wearing pajamas, said he left his residence because his parents were not home and he was scared.

Officers checked several residences in the area but were unable to find the boy’s home or that of his parents, police said. Police contacted the Department of Homeland Security, which took custody of the boy.
