Costco recalls chicken and salmon products due to listeria concerns

Costco Buyers are advised to check their grocery stores following the recall of several items due to listeria concerns. The recalled items included smoked salmon, two different chicken meal kits and frozen Belgian waffles.

Costco is recalling its Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon. The salmon, supplied by Acme Smoked Fish Corp., was potentially contaminated with the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes.

In a release Costco shared earlier this week that the warehouse announced the decision to notify customers was made out of “an abundance of caution.” Customers are asked to look for Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon products purchased between October 9, 2024 and October 13, 2024 with lot number 8512801270.

Like the smoked salmon recall, meal kits sold at Costco have also been recalled due to potential listeria contamination. This recall arises from a larger recall initiated by BrucePac Foodsa supplier of poultry products.

The Costco recall includes Rana Carbonara Chicken Truffle and Grilled White Chicken Tagliatelle with Portabello Mushroom Sauce. Both products are prepared with chicken provided by BrucePac Foodsand the recall affects items sold in September and October.

For meal kit and smoked salmon recalls, customers are asked not to consume the products and return them to Costco for a full refund.

Costco also sent a letter this week regarding their recall of Krusteaz Belgian Waffles. Waffles from this brand purchased at Costco between October 13 and 21 are being recalled because they are linked to a larger frozen waffles and pancakes recalled this was announced earlier this week.

With the worrying rise of recalls due to listeria concernsClients should be aware of the symptoms of a listeria infection. According to the Centers for Disease Control and PreventionSymptoms of the illness include fever, flu-like symptoms, headache, confusion, and neck stiffness. For people infected with listeria intestinal disease, symptoms to watch for include diarrhea and vomiting.
