LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An active search for a suspect has ended with law enforcement unable to locate the person.

Greene County Sheriff Matt Sasser said more information would be released later today, but said they were helping find a person who failed to appear on orders regarding an assault with a charge deadly weapon. Sasser said they weren’t looking for someone involved in a homicide.

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, which was assisting in the search, told WITN it was assisting in the search for a murder suspect.

A multi-agency search is currently underway for a murder suspect.

Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers told WITN they are searching for a murder suspect in the area of ​​the Greene, Pitt and Lenoir county lines.

Rogers, who was aboard a helicopter participating in the search, says the search is currently taking place in the area of ​​Highway 903 and Edwards Church Road.

Matt Sasser of Greene County says they are helping the U.S. Marshals Service arrest a person who has warrants for their arrest.
