If you own a coffee maker, it will probably live on your kitchen counter. Hiding a coffee maker in a cupboard after every use takes a little more work than I would ever like. So you need to make sure that your machine not only works perfectly, but also looks good.

But you can’t assume that best coffee makers are the ones that have a catwalk-ready look. The Aarke coffee maker do have runway-ready looks – the gorgeous ones chromium The finish will add a little spice to anyone’s kitchen. Unfortunately, this beauty is only skin deep. Some metal finishes are sharp and the water tank cover is fragile.

Does the Aarke coffee maker make a good cup of coffee in a short time? Yes. Yes, it is. But does it go beyond that to justify its $379 price tag? No, that’s not the case. It might still work for you. If you need to brew a large batch of coffee in a short time and need this coffee maker to look good, this machine might be ideal. Find out the whole story in this Aarke coffee maker review.

Aarke Coffee Maker Review: Price and Availability

The Aarke Coffee Maker is $379 direct from United States and £300 from United Kingdom. For a coffee machine without espresso, it’s quite expensive. For this caliber of style, it might be worth taking the plunge. Our best filter coffee maker, the Breville precision brewercosts $329 and has a larger capacity of 60 fluid ounces. THE Ninja specialty coffee maker only cost $150, even though it’s now a good five years old. However, neither can match the sophisticated aesthetic of the Aarke.

Aarke Coffee Maker Review: Design

If you are a fan of Scandinavian minimalism, the Aarke coffee maker will be made for you. The stainless steel chrome finish looks beautiful and the one-button-for-everything design takes the machine back to basics. If you hold the button for 3 seconds before brewing, the coffee will be bloomed with a little water for a more sophisticated taste. The water spout is a shower head type, which creates a more even water-coffee contact surface, but I found myself having to push the coffee grounds into the center of the filter because they were still completely dry after a few minutes .

This would look beautiful in a monochrome or minimalist kitchen. I like the light inside the water tank so you can see how much water is left while brewing. The glass carafe also fits well under the filter, so there is little risk of spillage.

On the other hand, if you’re more of a retro/maximalist decorator, you might want to take a look The Smeg range of retro-inspired multi-colored coffee makers. I love the variation of pastel shades offered.

Although the Aarke coffee maker looks great, it’s not as well made as one might hope. The underside of the metal case is quite sharp, as if it hasn’t been finished, so be warned not to run your fingers over it. The metal cover of the water tank is also quite fragile and light; I would prefer something with a little weight to seal the water inside. There is a gap between the heating plate and the body of the coffee maker, which means that coffee grounds can get stuck, and the heating plate is not removable. However, I like the little light inside the water tank that automatically turns on when you pour water inside so you can see how much you have. I also like that the filter compartment lifts up on its own, so you don’t have to balance it while trying to fit a filter inside.

Aarke Coffee Maker Review: Performance

Preparing large quantities of coffee with the Aarke coffee maker is child’s play. This would be best suited for someone who wants to quickly brew a day’s worth of coffee in one go, or even a small office. The Aarke is easier to use than an espresso machine, but the flavor isn’t as complex. If you’re brewing for a lot of people, the Aarke is easier to brew in large batches than a Chemex or V60.

However, that doesn’t mean it’s for everyone. The Aarke coffee maker is not as flexible as affordable manual coffee makers like the V60 or a Chemex. On top of that, it’s not as versatile as the Breville Precision Brewer. You cannot make a cold brew at all or change the strength of the brew. If you want to play with taste, you’ll need to experiment with grind sizes and coffee-to-water ratios. I thought Aarke’s recommended ratio provided the best flavor, which was one Aarke scoop (7.5g) to 1 cup of water.

The Breville Precision Brewer has five presets: fast, golden, strong, over ice, and cold brew. For the price, I would expect the Aarke to have similar features, but it only has one setting: brew. I guess you could argue that the Aarke’s main feature is beauty, and make no mistake, it does that well. But I would like at least a “cold brew” setting. If you’re like me and love cold brews in the summer, this coffee maker will be nothing more than a pretty (but heavy) decoration in your kitchen from June to September.

That’s not to say the Aarke’s unique setting doesn’t work well: it brews up to 10 cups of coffee in just seven minutes. If you brew 4 cups, it takes 3 and a half minutes, and 2 cups only takes 2 minutes 55 seconds. The coffee it brews is also decent, although it won’t impress specialty coffee fans. It has a strong taste but not too extracted or bitter. You can easily adjust this depending on how much coffee you put in the filter. There is no way to adjust the temperature; the coffee comes out at 76°C/169°F. After 40 minutes on the hotplate, the coffee was at 71.2°C/160°F.

The hotplate only stays on for 40 minutes and there is no way to adjust this time. Other drip coffee makers, like the Technivorm Moccamaster KBGV Select, keep coffee hot for up to 100 minutes.

Aarke Coffee Maker Review: Storage and Care

As I touched on above, my main frustration with keeping the Aarke coffee maker clean is due to the non-removable heating plate. Since the space between the hotplate and the coffee maker itself is large enough for debris to lodge, it’s the perfect breeding ground for moisture and mold. You could certainly get a cocktail stick and clean it up, but that wouldn’t be the case. do the housework.

However, cleaning the machine itself is very simple. The glass carafe is easy to clean in the dishwasher or with hot soapy water, and the coffee filter is also removable for washing. Every 60 cycles, the manufacturer will ask you to descale.

The machine is quite large, but it looks great on a counter, so as long as you have the kitchen space, I don’t see why you would want to store it away. Except maybe during the humid summer months if, like me, you don’t feel like drinking hot coffee.

Aarke Coffee Maker Review: How Does It Compare?

Our best drip coffee maker is the Breville Precision Brewer, priced at $329 at Amazon. As I mentioned in the “Performance” section, this coffee maker has five settings ranging from “fast” to “cold brew.” If you are someone who looks forward to drinking iced lattes, the Breville would definitely be a better buy for you.

If you’re on a tight budget, you might want to check out the Braun KF6050WH drip coffee maker, which is just $129 from Amazon. We’ve seen it go as low as $50, however, so it could drop to more than half the price during sales. It only brews up to four cups, but if you don’t need a larger machine, it could save you a good amount of money.

If you want a cool looking machine, the Technivorm Moccamaster is one of the most iconic drip coffee makers on the market today. The design is virtually unchanged from the 1960s, and for one reason: it works. We gave this drip coffee maker a 4.5-star rating for its delicious coffee flavor and Technivorm’s lifetime repair guarantee. It’s quite expensive at $349, but still $30 cheaper than the Aarke coffee maker.

Aarke Coffee Maker Review: Verdict

If you need to brew a lot of coffee in a short time, this is a great option that can meet your quick brewing needs. However, for the price, the Aarke coffee maker is lacking a lot. Besides the sharp metal underside, the high-end settings are forgotten. There are no cold brew, ice, strength, or temperature settings, meaning fans of different coffee styles will feel left out. You can get these settings and more on cheaper models. Yes, the Aarke looks cool, and yes, the Aarke makes lots of flavorful coffee quickly, but those attributes don’t justify the $379 for me. However, if its sleek aesthetic appealed to you, it won’t make you a bad cup of coffee, just an expensive one.
