Government consults on changes to poultry meat marketing regulations – NFUonline

The Government is consulting on changing poultry meat marketing regulations in England and Scotland.

The consultation, launched on October 21, is divided into two parts.

The first part focuses on removing current restrictions which mean free-range poultry can only be labeled as such for 12 weeks after the introduction of bird flu housing measures.

The second concerns the removal of the need for optional indicator certificates to accompany imported poultry meat.

The changes would put English poultry producers on a level playing field with the rest of the EU and benefit producers if an advance housing order comes into force.
