San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch appeared on Bay Area radio station KNBR Friday morning to share the latest quarterback news. Brock Purdythe injury. Purdy injured his shoulder during Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, significantly limiting his participation in practice this week.

Purdy’s shoulder soreness kept him out of the team’s first two practices. The 49ers have one more practice scheduled Friday before heading to Lambeau Field for this weekend’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

Lynch admitted that neither Purdy nor the 49ers know exactly when the quarterback was injured.

“I know he fought throughout the game,” Lynch said. “And I’m not saying anything debilitating, but I saw him, during the game, throw a lot of things in between. Every time there was a break in the game, he kept throwing. And so I I think in that moment you probably feel something, but I think he was so focused on trying to win that match.

“We had a plan to try to calm things down. And Wednesday we didn’t throw any throws. We kind of went out there and just practiced. Thursday I started throwing some throws, then I came in and did a little rehab, according to the plan.

“So we’ll see where he is today. Hopefully he’ll make some progress and we can give it a shot this weekend, but we’ll see. I think it’s tenuous.”

Lynch revealed that Purdy underwent an MRI earlier this week.

“We’re happy with where we are from that standpoint,” Lynch continued. “But still, you have to be able to go out and operate. And so, we’re kind of figuring all that out. Brock is going to show up here today, and we’ll see where he can go in terms of practical, and we will make certain decisions accordingly.

If Purdy can’t play Sunday, Lynch said Brandon Allen would come in as a starter against the Packers. Allen and Josh Dobbs completed important practice reps this week as Purdy continues to recover.

“Brandon Allen and Josh Dobbs would both be ready, but Brandon would get the first snaps,” Lynch said.
