Exeter’s Dutch striker Linde van der Velden has been suspended for four weeks for a dangerous tackle.

The 29-year-old was cited after her club’s 29-12 victory over Saracens in their top-of-the-table Premiership Women’s Rugby encounter on Saturday.

Van der Velden admitted to a high tackle an hour into the match at Sandy Park.

The referee did not see the incident during the match, but Van der Velden admitted the accusation after it was cited on video evidence.

This means she will miss Exeter’s matches against Loughborough Lightning and Sale Sharks over the next two weeks, as well as the Netherlands’ back-to-back international matches against Brazil at the end of this month and the start of month of December.
