The unintentional appearance of Jarvis on the Chrome web store confirms previous reports of what Google is working on.

The AI agent is expected to browse the web on behalf of users and perform tasks such as purchasing products and booking flights. Google reportedly plans to publicly introduce Jarvis in December, alongside the latest version of its large Gemini language model.

Google is not the only one developing AI agents. Last month, Anthropic introduced a new feature for its Claude LLM that can essentially take control of your computer to read and write JavaScript code. OpenAI would also work on AI agents.

In a recent Reddit AMAKevin Weil, CPO of OpenAI, hinted that ChatGPT will first have the ability to message users and that running tasks for users will be a “big theme in 2025.”
