The government will prepare a transparent policy so that no one is harassed while leaving airports and returning home, Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said today.

“In many cases, banks ask to prohibit someone from going abroad. In many cases, there are court decisions to this end. This is why the issue will be subject to a transparent policy” , he said this evening during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy.

Alam said the issue of overseas restrictions would be subject to specific policy in consultation with relevant authorities, including intelligence agencies.

Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor Abul Kalam Azad Majumder said the deposed government had sent a list of people with dissenting views and politicians to the immigration office, asking the authorities concerned to prevent them from going abroad and returning home.

Referring to the recent incident of harassment of New Age editor Nurul Kabir at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, he said the government was aware of it.

The long list is updated manually to avoid harassment of passengers at airports, he added.

Replying to a question, Azad said the government had formed a new Election Commission (EC) as per the law and the President had appointed the Chief Election Commissioner and other commissioners as the power vested in him.

Responding to another question, he said the government was doing its best to prevent rumors and seeking cooperation from everyone, mentioning that it was very difficult for the government to fight rumors alone.

Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor Apurba Jahangir was also present at the press conference.
