Two sites offering election betting – also known as “futures” – have accepted bets on the US election for the first time in 2024.

Bettors had $132 million at stake in the presidential race alone on tech startup platform Kalshi, and a total of $400 million across all deals, which also included the Senate and House races. U.S. Representatives as well as some state races.

ForecastEx LLC, a subsidiary of Interactive Brokers, said a total of $538 million was bet on the 2024 presidential election on its platform.
