Police are investigating reports that a woman ignored road closure signs and drove through crowds marking Remembrance Sunday.

The incident is believed to have occurred at the First World War memorial at Halvergate, near Acle, during the two minutes of silence at 11:00 GMT.

Philip Stone, clerk of Halvergate Parish Council, said that when challenged the woman was heard saying “I’m more concerned about the living than the dead”.

Norfolk police said an investigation was underway and no one was injured.
