Google’s conversational search could update results as you speak

Android tipster, AssembleDebugrecently took to X to share a screen recording of a potential Google feature: conversational search. The demo shows the search engine responding to the user’s voice queries in real time, updating results as the user speaks. Although voice typing is already a Google feature, it is currently not integrated with AI to enable tracking of questions and answers in real time.

The tipster reports that Google is currently experimenting with this feature and may release it soon, although we’re not sure when. If launched, it will likely be a mobile-exclusive feature.

2024 was a big year for online AI agents and dedicated AI tools meant to answer your queries in the most human way possible. Being able to retain memory and understand context are some of the features that these AI tools boast of. This means you can ask him follow-up questions after your initial query and he will remember and understand what you are referring to. The screen recording shows “Where is the Taj Mahal?” » as the first query and “Why was it built?” » as the third question, showing a more conversational interaction.

Conversational search is not radically different from other AI tools using Gemini AI or ChatGPT. The convenience here lies in its direct integrations into search results.

It’s clear that Google is struggling to keep its search engine relevant in the face of the sudden rise of AI chatbots. His most recent threat is OpenAI ChatGPT Research which promises to bring a natural language interface with fast responses and updated query results.

Google has already suffered from excessive affiliate marketing and websites seeking SEO authority. His research results have recently got worse. The addition of Gemini AI Previews has transformed the traditional search experience, frustrating many users. It remains to be seen whether conversational search will improve the app or further harm its usability.

Many users complain that the search engine is in such bad shape that they have to end their queries with “Reddit” to be able to find “real” results, thus avoiding affiliate link-intensive texts or generated articles by AI. Despite the rise of generative AI robots, no one has yet managed to surpass Google. But it makes sense that Google is trying to future-proof its search engine.
